Case No. 51: Danny Trejo

In August 2019, this tattooed tough-guy character actor was at the scene of a two-car crash in Sylmar within seconds — and crawled into an overturned SUV to get a trapped child out.

The full story

On August 7, 2019, Danny Trejo helped rescue a young boy trapped in an overturned SUV after a two-car collision in Sylmar, California. Trejo was nearby, crawled into the wreck, and — with a bystander keeping the child calm — pulled him free. He has been sober since the 1960s and credits recovery work with leading him to acting.

The clues we handed out

— A bystander did the other half of the work: she kept the boy calm enough to unbuckle himself while he pulled.

— He has been sober since the 1960s and has sponsored people in recovery ever since.

— He got into movies by accident — he went to a film set to support someone in recovery and left with a job.

— He now runs a small taco-and-donut empire in Los Angeles under his own name.

— Initials: D.T.
