Hosting Miss Universe 2015 in Las Vegas on 20 December 2015, Steve Harvey announced Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as the winner. She was crowned and applauded for close to two minutes before he returned to say he had misread the card and that the winner was Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach; he held the card up to the camera and said he took responsibility. The crown was removed and transferred on stage. Harvey blamed the layout of the card; the Miss Universe Organization described the error as human error and apologised. He continued to host the pageant in later years.
