How to read an ALLEGEDLY share receipt

Somebody sent you something like this and you would like to know what you are looking at, and ideally whether it is impressive.

ALLEGEDLY* No.14 2/3 ๐Ÿ”ร—1 ๐Ÿ”ฅ6

Every part of that is doing work. Here is the full decode.

The edition number

No.14 is which daily case it was. Everyone in the world got the same puzzle that day, which is the entire reason a score means anything socially - it is a comparison, not a personal best.

The score

2/3 means solved on the second of three guesses. X/3 means they struck out and never got it. On the standard daily you have three strikes; every miss unlocks a free clue, so a third-guess solve often means someone worked back from clues rather than knowing it outright.

2/2 or X/2 means Hard Mode: two strikes only, and no optional clues available at all. A clean 1/2 is the most genuinely difficult result in the game.

The marks

A row of โŒ shows the misses, and a ๐ŸŸข closes it if they solved it. It is a compressed picture of how the round actually went - a near-disaster rescued at the end reads very differently from a clean first-guess kill, even at the same nominal score.

The magnifying glass - the interesting one

๐Ÿ”ร—1 means they unlocked one optional clue.

This is the part worth understanding, because it is the only real strategic decision in the game. Optional clues cost nothing in scoring terms. They do not consume a strike and they do not lower your score. Their entire price is that they print here, on the receipt, for everyone to see.

So a 1/3 with ๐Ÿ”ร—2 and a 1/3 with no glass are the same score and not remotely the same achievement, and both players know it. If you see zero optional clues ๐Ÿ˜ค on a result, that is someone making a point.

The flame

๐Ÿ”ฅ6 is a six-day streak. It only appears from two days upward, and it only counts the daily - practice rounds and archive cases never touch it. A streak resets the moment a day is missed, which is why it is the number people are actually protecting.

The sunglasses

๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ means Hard Mode. If it says NIGHT, that is the Night Edition - a separate, harder case that unlocks after dark, with its own independent streak.

The percentage line

Sometimes a receipt carries something like I'm in the 23% ๐Ÿ’…. That is the share of players who solved that day's case, pulled from anonymous results, and it only shows up when the number is low enough to be worth bragging about. It is also the fairest difficulty signal in the game, because it is measured rather than asserted.

The quote

Every receipt carries a fragment of the case with the identity blanked out. That is deliberate: the receipt has to be shareable without spoiling anything, so it shows enough to be intriguing and nothing that gives the answer away. You can post one anywhere without a spoiler warning.

The honest summary

Reading it in order: which day, how many guesses, how much help they took, how long they have been showing up. A 1/3 with no glass and a long flame is someone who genuinely knew it and has known it for weeks. A 3/3 with ๐Ÿ”ร—2 is someone who refused to lose. Both are fine. Only one of them is bragging.

Today's edition is here - takes about ninety seconds, and then you will have a receipt of your own.
