Stacy Keach was arrested at London Heathrow on 3 April 1984 after HM Customs officers found roughly 1.3 ounces of cocaine in his luggage, some of it concealed in an aerosol shaving-foam can. He pleaded guilty to importation and was sentenced to nine months. On 18 December 1984 Lord Chief Justice Geoffrey Lane dismissed his appeal, saying the sentence could not be faulted; his secretary's appeal against her own three-month sentence was allowed the same day, and she was released. He served six months at HM Prison Reading and was released in 1985.
